PolyMara is a research and intellectual property (“IP”) organization created to invent and commercialize fully biodegradable or compostable bioplastics

Plastic

The world is drowning in vast quantities of plastic waste. Global plastic production now amounts to approximately 400 billion kilograms per year, 99% of which consists of fossil fuel-based products, or “Forever Plastics,” which do not disappear over time. Many of these Forever Plastics break down into smaller pieces called “microplastics”, which are often ingested by animals, particularly marine life. Toxins fr om these microplastics then enter the animals’ tissue and are ingested by humans when the animals are eaten. Even when recycling of this non-biodegradable waste has been attempted, such efforts often involve chemical processes that use and produce additional toxic materials or that utilize incineration processes which release toxic gases and further contribute to atmospheric warming.

Polymara

PolyMara, a research and intellectual property (“IP”) organization created to invent and commercialize fully biodegradable or compostable bioplastics using natural biopolymers, is focused on creating new materials as novel co-polymers or blends from natural products which will be direct replacements for fossil-fuel based plastics. PolyMara will develop a full range of intellectual property including knowledge and understanding of the interaction between formulation, bioplastic properties and chemical structure. PolyMara will achieve this by utilizing proven techniques from the pharmaceutical industry such as combinatorial and computational chemistry to rapidly create a large quantity of prototypes.

Seaweed

PolyMara is using seaweed to help solve the world’s problem with Forever Plastics. Seaweed is an abundant, widely cultivated material that, in addition to its use as a biopolymer base, also filters water by removing impurities and/or dissolved solids from water, and absorbs tremendous amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen. Seaweed cultivation is already being promoted in countries through the world, with government assistance available to seaweed farmers across the globe.

Polymara's Mission

As PolyMara validates its technology and proves scalability, it will seek patent protection in the United States and the United Kingdom, and commence licensing its technology to end-state manufacturers and other providers of Forever Plastics around the world. PolyMara has no intention of becoming a manufacturer of biopolymers, but will continue to engage in research and testing to refine its technology, find new applications for its materials, and assist its licensees in maximizing the commercial potential of the licensed rights. It is also PolyMara’s mission to create new bioplastic materials that are suitable for existing production infrastructure, to enable both rapid uptake and market acceptance.

Polymara's Ethos

An essential part of PolyMara is its corporate ethos. PolyMara has been created to help change the world. The Company believes that part of doing so is changing the way people treat each other and how they engage with and respect the world around them. This ethos is simply an extension  of who the Company is, what it is doing, and how it is about doing so.   To that end, the PolyMara  organization is committed to not discriminating in any way against its employees, using renewable and fairly traded materials in its operations whenever feasible, and compensating all employees fairly and proportionately.
